Snow is Falling All Around...

And it's frickin cold...OK it was frickin cold.

Wait. Happy New Year!

To all my friends and followers.

We are alive in 09! Wa frickin hoo!

Now back to the weather report.

If someone told me we would have the same amount of snow this Winter as last winter, I would have said I hope to hell this doesn't happen! Well it is happening and it has been frickin cold too! Bah I know I'm Canadian eh!??! And I should be used tro all this snow but I'm from the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) we are more like New York City in terns of latitude or is it longitude? A little cooler but we are not supposed to have this much snow! I'm tired of seeing it tasting it driving in it shovelling it...I want warm and I want it NOW! Are you sensing a trend here!?! I am in need of a restart and I know it is a new year so I hope to see some holidays in February.

I want it HOT! And I want it now...Maybe it's my cold talking but I'm phlemmed up and I don't like it...

We may do a last minute deal thingies my passport is in order so I am ready...

My Goddess is on the show trail.
She is in the Spring One of A Kind show this year it isn't for a couple months so I'll keep you apprised.

The dog makes us laugh. She isn't Didger but she is her own personality. The cattledog is "strong in this one ...."

Until we meet again ... Yah I know weekly is better. Maybe bi-weekly ...OK OK don't get carried away!

2008 Ironman of the Year

You know I got a good friend who is an Ironman. He swims, cycles and runs crazy distances and trains most all year round to be able to do this.

I thought about what "My Goddess" does (Fashion designer) and she is much like an Ironman. Ok she doesn't swim, cycle or run crazy distances but she designs, cuts and sews (for hours on end) many many MANY pieces for her lines.

She produces two lines a year, much like prepping for 2 races a year but she does at least 3 shows (sometimes more). A show it is a test of endurance with 10 to 12 hour days sometimes 4 days sometimes 11!!! You eat energy bars and protein drinks and lots of water for dehydration and wear a uniform but don't even get me going on those shoes! My Goddess just finished up the Toronto One of a Kind show and though it was a success (thankfully)it was an eleven day Ironman, but with the help of her support group (me) Rogue and Goddess Mom visiting from Calgary, she did it! Yes, My Goddess' mom (Goddess Mom) came into town for a week or so and was a terrific help to us. It is great when you have a support cast who "gets it" just like an Ironman!

My Goddess is in recovery week (just like an Ironman the week after the race and she is already thinking about 2009!) Wow the coincidences boggle !?!

Though Darren had a amazing year, I'd like to nominate My Goddess for 2008 Ironman (woman) of the year!

Yeah I know there is a couple weeks left but she is far out in the lead with only a few hundred metres to go...

One of a Kind Passion

The goddess is "One of a Kind"! She yearly (with my helps) brings her beautiful designs to the Toronto One of a Kind Show. Where for 11 days, she along with other designers, artisans and crafts people show and sell their "passion".

Now the days are long and the rewards are (hopefully) many. But even if you don't wish to buy a beautiful accessory for that special person in your life (though I find this hard to believe) It is still worth while to attend the One of a Kind Xmas show to see what people do outside of a "regular" 9-5 or shift work style job. Many of these people have spent a large part of their lives studying and or perfecting their "art" and their hope is that you will enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Before Leah was an exhibitor, we were patrons of the show and we enjoyed wandering the aisles seeing what interests people had outside of the main stream retail market. We didn't always buy but we were intrigued but what was out there. There are all kinds of things from paintings to sculpture to furniture to toys oh and don't forget scarves. It is getting colder out there!

So if you want to see what passion means to people then grab a friend or loved one and head on down. Don't forget to stop in to Leah's booth and say "Hi!"...
