You know some times life sucks.
I went to work the other day and was about to go into one of the calls on my route when I tried the door and found it locked. Strange for a restaurant at lunch time, then I noticed the "family emergency "sign on the door, was curious, didn't give it too much thought. Though in my four years servicing this place they had never ever been closed.
As I walked away the parking lot attendant told me the father in this family run business had been killed in a car accident while driving his daughter to school. Damn, his oldest daughter had just given him a grandchild and things seemed so, good. It's not like we were close or anything but his family life seemed so safe. Always smiling, always a warm greeting when I came in, always there...
The next day I hear the news about the 5 Canadian soldiers injured in a car bombing in Afghanistan. I know of a few Canucks doing peace keeping in Kandahar through a hobby site dedicated to military modeling (plastic model building, painting etc.) Damn, if one of the names didn't sound familiar. So I google when I get home and find out it is one of the regulars on the site and he has been critically wounded, he might lose his arm.
What else can I say? As I get older I realize there are no guarantees in life, screw "death and taxes".
I 'm not religious but if prayer floats your boat then go to it and by all means go and give someone or something a hug.
Be safe, Reddog
